Initiation – This is an introductory program for children 6 and under that have little skating experience. These new players are instructed on skating fundamentals and introduced to the game of hockey with fun and engaging practices. Skaters are on the ice one session per week with nothing scheduled for holiday weekends. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
Cross Ice (U6 Program) – This is a program for players ages 6 and under that have some skating experience. Skaters are on the ice two times each week with one practice and a game each weekend at an area rink. No games are scheduled for holiday weekends. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
Mite Hockey (U8 Program) – This program is for skaters ages 8 and under. There are three levels (Red, White, and Blue) within the program allowing for us to provide an appropriate skill-level experience for all skaters. Skaters are on the ice 3-5 times per week with 3 practices and half-ice games each weekend at a local rink. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
Squirt – This level is generally for skaters ages 9-10 that have successfully completed the U8 Program and have qualified for participation at the Squirt level. Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, C or C2 team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices and one to two games on weekends. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
Pee Wee – This level is generally for skaters ages 11-12 that have successfully completed the Squirt program and have qualified for participation at the Pee Wee level. Evaluations are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, C or C2 team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices and one to two games on weekends. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
Bantam – This level is for skaters ages 13-14 that have successfully completed the Pee Wee program and have qualified for the Bantam level. Tryouts are conducted at the beginning of the season to determine player placement on the A, B, or C team when numbers necessitate the need for multiple teams. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices and one to two games on weekends. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
U18 (Formerly HS2) – This level is for skaters registered and attending a registered high school or an approved Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction home study program, 18 years of age and under on the first day of the school year, and not on a WIAA High School roster. The number of practices and games each week can vary but generally include two weeknight practices and one to two games on weekends. Practices are primarily held at Capitol Ice Arena with an occasional practice being held at Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center / Shell.
Practice times may fluctuate due to the availability of ice time and scheduling conflicts that occur from time to time. The Middleton Youth Hockey Association may schedule ice times as it deems necessary to meet the demands of our growing club.
